Voice for Change Permission Slip
Hello parents and families,
Last year, six of our students wrote and received a state grant called Voice4Change. The goal of the grant was to get students and staff to know each other on a deeper level. They discussed how food is a critical component of cultures and a wonderful way to get to know one another better. To this end, the students worked to plan one of two events that will take place this year using the awarded funds.
The first event will occur next week. Staff and students (juniors and seniors) will attend an event at Conn College where they will share in a lunch including various ethnic foods from around New London. They will also participate in activities to get to know one another on a deeper cultural level. All grade 12 students will participate on Tuesday, April 4. All grade 11 students will participate on Thursday, April 6.
Permission slips were distributed to all grade 11 and 12 students in their homeroom block this morning. Due to the tight turn-around time, we are requesting that all participating students complete and return the parent-approved permission slips to the HS Main Office by Monday, 4/3 (grade 12) and Wednesday, 4/5 (grade 11). Additional copies of these permission slips can also be found in either Main Office, from your student's school counselor, attached to this communication, and on the school website.
We are so proud of our students for writing and receiving this grant, and look forward to making our Whaler community even stronger!
