The unique collaboration between NLPS and Brigaid is the first of its kind in the U.S., and it brings together two partners committed to excellence and to providing the highest quality standards in all areas of public school education.

“We believe healthy and nutritious meals are critical to a thriving school environment,” said Dr. Rivera. “Brigaid will help us achieve new levels of excellence in our food services, which speaks to our overall mission of continuously improving the district’s service to our students, families and community at large.”

Brigaid and NLPS will hire highly trained and experienced chefs to work in each of the district’s six school cafeterias, and each chef will be responsible for all aspects of that school’s food services.

“Brigaid is looking to make people rethink the whole experience of eating in school. We are looking at everything from the design of the trays that we serve the meals on, all the way to the design of the cafeterias that we serve the meals in,” said Dan Giusti.

Brigaid will be responsible for serving more than 3,300 students every school day, complying with all state and national school nutrition guidelines, and for keeping costs at the current mandated levels. There are also plans to extend meal offerings beyond the scheduled school day for home consumption by students and their families.
