Joint BOE & Superintendent Statement 1-14-21
On June 11, 2020, the New London Board of Education and by extension the residents of New London were racially attacked during a Zoom meeting. As appalling on many levels as this may be, this was only done virtually and by cowards. December 15, 2020 Dear New London Public Schools Community, In accordance with our current instructional model schedule, tomorrow, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 is a full workday for all staff and a full instructional day for all students. Due to the incoming snowstorm, the district will be closed for a SNOW DAY on Thursday, December 17th. Superintendent Ritchie's Communication November 13, 2020
NLPS will be open to in-person student learning again, in the Hybrid Model, starting on Monday November 16th in the following locations: Winthrop STEM Elementary Magnet School Harbor Elementary School Jennings International Elementary Magnet School Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School New London High School Multi-Magnet Campus New London Adult Education Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet Middle School will not be able to have in-person student learning from Monday, November 16th through Friday, November 20th. Schools Closed November 9th-13th
Although COVID-19 contact tracing efforts continued throughout the weekend, regarding our recent positive cases identified Thursday night, more time is needed to ensure that we have a confident picture of all close contacts between students involved. Therefore, we are unable to open the district to any in-person student learning this week. NLPS will be closed to all in-person student learning the week of November 9th through 13th. Sad News
It is with the deepest regret and sadness that I inform you about the loss of a long-standing administrator of New London Public Schools. We were notified this morning that Mr. Roland Dunham, Assistant Principal of the Bennie Dover Jackson Multi-Magnet School Campus has passed away. Schools Closed
Late this afternoon and evening, we have been made aware of additional COVID-positive cases. Based on the number of schools recently affected by COVID positive students and staff, and the associated contact tracing efforts happening now, New London Public Schools has decided to close all schools to in-person instruction tomorrow, Friday November 6th.
