We are currently on summer vacation. Have a safe and wonderful summer!

The first day of school for the 2008/2009 school year will be:

Thursday, August 28th.

Dear Parents:

As you read this note, we are in the home stretch of another school year. I hope this year has been a rewarding experience for your child. As is often said, New London High School is a striving school in a striving community. As such, the administration has focused its efforts this past year on personalizing each child’s learning experience and working with teachers to improve the quality of instruction. As you might imagine these are long term goals and will continue next year.

I would like to call attention to a few things that we are quite proud of this year:

  • Out of school suspensions are down by 193 from this time last year.
  • Drastic reduction in failures between semester 2 last year and semester 1 this year. (52%)
  • NLHS was awarded the Project Opening Doors Grant ($384,000) to expand our Advanced Placement Program.
  • Average daily attendance over 90%

While the coming weeks will be filled with award ceremonies, senior activities and graduation it is important that everyone remain focused on the task at hand. Semester exams, projects and attendance are incredibly important. We want all of our students to earn high marks and advance to the next grade. We offer extra help sessions each day after school and all students are welcome to attend. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s performance please contact his or her counselor ASAP.

My best to all of you for a safe and happy summer!
