The New London Public Schools’ (NLPS) Student of the Month for June 2009 is Brookelynn Leasure, a fifth grade student at Nathan Hale Elementary School.
Brookelynn is a member of the School Enrichment Model Initiative (SEMI) Program, which provides enrichment for gifted students in grades 4 and 5. She is an exemplary student, who enjoys reading and writing, and who has even earned the nickname ‘Pippi', garnered for one of her favorite literary characters ‘Pippi Longstocking’. Brookelynn is upbeat and always willing to help and share with her peers. She approaches and experiences each day with a sense of humor and a smile. Brookelynn is a role model for all students at Nathan Hale Elementary School.
Brookelynn has received excellent grades this school year. Her goal for the summer is to continue to read as many books as she can, and her life’s goal is to become an actress. Her favorite subjects are Math and Music, and outside of school she loves to rollerblade. With the end of the school year nearing, Brookelynn is looking forward to attending middle school in the fall.
“It has been a pleasure to meet Brookelynn this year. I know she will continue to excel in middle school and remember all the lessons she has learned at Nathan Hale.” Says Nathan Hale Principal, Donna Slate.
The New London Board of Education will honor Brookelynn at its June 11, 2009 monthly meeting, set to begin at 7:00 p.m., in the Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School Library. |
