OPERATIONS and FACILITY MANAGEMENT

The Operations Department is responsible for the operation and capital improvements, of all school facilities, including maintenance, efficiency improvements, security, cleanliness, and safety.  The department consists of maintenance and custodial employees, a Chief of Operations and one administrative Assistant,  Currently there's more than 664,000 square feet of building space to be managed with an additional 20,000 square feet to be added by the spring of 2013.

The original construction dates for our buildings range from 1908 to present.  The infrastructure of many of these buildings is a challenge to provide maintenance and repair at a reasonable cost.   

Capital Improvements

With the implementation of the two Magnet Schools; Winthrop and Nathan Hale; this office is intimately involved in the planning and roll out of this $66,000,000 endeavor.    

Winthrop Magnet School is scheduled to open in January 2012.
